Feature & Follow Friday (2): Book-selling Time

An awesome idea to make friends in the blogosphere, Feature & Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee & Alison Can Read. It’s a great opportunity to find and follow new blogs. Every week, they feature bloggers on their sites and we get to learn more about them as they answer some questions. Each week also features a question that we can share our answers to.

This week’s question:

Bookselling Time: Go to your biggest bookcases. Go to the second shelf from the top and pick out the sixth book from the left. Hardsell that book to us – even if you haven’t read it or if you hated it. (if you don’t have bookcases, don’t have six books on one shelf, etc, pick a book at random)

My book this week is Shel Silverstein‘s The Missing Piece. It’s an illustrated book which uses sing-song poems to deliver its message. And its message is a compelling one. There have been tons of debates among the different interpretations of this book.

It’s basically about this Circle who’s missing a piece and he wanders looking for that missing piece, meeting Triangles in various shapes and sizes along the way. It echoes on issues such as self-fulfillment and relationships and presented in such an interesting way.

It’s a short but compelling read and I would hate to spoil the ending for you but I hope you get to read it so we can discuss each other’s thoughts on it.

What about you guys? What’s your book pick to hard-sell this week?

Don’t forget to check out the other blogs participating in this feature. Head over to Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.
