Top Ten Books I’m Not Sure I Want to Read Anymore…

crown of midnight
CROWN OF MIDNIGHT by Sarah J Maas. I know! *ducks for cover* LOL 🙂 I even bought the hard cover version. But unfortunately, I wasn’t feeling Throne of Glass so I’m having serious second thoughts on this.

daughter of smoke and bone
DAUGHTER OF SMOKE AND BONE by Laini Taylor. I was able to start this one a few months ago and I had a hard time getting into the groove of things. Granted I was only a handful of chapters in and yet…

onyx
ONYX by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I know Opposition just came out and a lot of fans including some of my friends have waited long for this final installment. I did finish Obsidian and enjoyed that first book. But it didn’t pull me in like I expected it to and now I’m not sure if I can hang in there to finish the rest of the 4 books in the series.

cruel beauty
CRUEL BEAUTY by Rosamund Hodge. I was super excited for the release of this one and as soon as the hardcover edition became available at our local bookstore, I immediately got myself a copy. But until today, I haven’t read it yet and while I started for about 4 to 5 pages, I somehow neglected it altogether and now I’m feeling like I don’t have the proper motivation to start this one again.

under the never sky
UNDER THE NEVER SKY by Veronica Rossi. My friend binge-read the entire series and loved it. In fact, I was the one who introduced the books to her although I haven’t read them yet. I’m still a little conflicted about this one.

hopeless
HOPELESS by Colleen Hoover. I’ve heard a lot of great feedback about this book and its companion, LOSING HOPE, as well as about the author herself. And I did add this to my TBR particularly around the time when I was getting introduced to the world of New Adult. But now, I’m not sure if I’m up to reading what I expect to give me lots of drama and angst.

bloodlines
BLOODLINES by Richelle Meader. I wasn’t a fan of her Vampire Academy series and didn’t even try to continue reading the first book. But I was hoping that I would enjoy the author’s other works that’s why I bought Bloodlines. But up to now, I haven’t started this book yet and I know the series has about 5 (?) books released already. I don’t know if I’m going to be starting this series soon, if at all.

tangled
TANGLED by Emma Chase. A couple of the bloggers I follow have read and loved this book and I was initially excited to try it out as well. But now, the “honeymoon stage” is over and I don’t quite see myself reading this one anytime soon.

the house of the four winds
THE HOUSE OF THE FOUR WINDS by Mercedes Lackey & James Mallory. I was excited to have been granted an eARC of this book because it totally falls under my enjoyable reads radar. But when I started it, I couldn’t muster enough enthusiasm to continue. I’ll try my best on this one since I was the one who requested an eARC but I’m still not sure.

my life next door
MY LIFE NEXT DOOR by Huntley Fitzpatrick. I’ve been meaning to read my first Huntley Fitzpatrick novel and this one sounds like something I’d really enjoy. But at the moment, I can’t expect myself to get a copy of this one to start reading. Maybe I’ll change my mind or maybe I’ll try out her other books.

There you go. My Top Ten Tuesday for this week. What are yours? Leave your link in the comment section and I will definitely check them out.

  1. If you didn’t like VA I would not suggest bloodlines since is it based in the same world and has the same characters in it. I would try one of her other series if you want to give the author a go.

    1. I know we all wish for an extra life to read all the books we want to… 🙂 I do hope you’ll get to read those you really want to soon. Thanks for stopping by Rachel 🙂

  2. I have only read Under the Never Sky but I loved it. Haven’t read the rest of the series though so hopefully they will not disappoint. I haven’t read Vampire Academy but have heard such mixed reviews about it that I am just not so sure. Great list!

    1. I have these two books on my shelf! Sadly I started them both but didn’t really get into the story well so back to the shelf they went. I’m not really sure if I’ll be picking them up soon or if ever.

  3. My Life Next Door is so worth it in the end! I hope you get to it soon!

I am in the same boat when it comes to Bloodlines and Under The Never Sky. I was so pumped for them and now I could not care less for them.

hopefully we shall get round to all of our books!

Thanks for sharing & great list!

    1. I’m going to give My Life Next Door the benefit of the doubt and not remove it totally from my TBR list. And yes, hopefully we get around to reading all our books! 🙂

  4. I have Under the Never Sky. I’ve had it for a very long time and it just sits there collecting dust. Will I ever pick it up, I don’t know. I only read the first Smoke and Bone book, but was never moved enough to want to continue. Thone of Glass got a four star rating from me and then I read it again and it was like a new book and I loved it. Crown of Midnight is so much more than the first book, but you know if it’s not your thing, don’t sweat it.

    1. I did hear the Crown of Midnight is better than Throne of Glass but at the moment, I couldn’t quite make myself care more about the characters and I hate when that happens when it’s a series because now I have no motivation to continue with it. 😦

  5. Ahh I didn’t adore Throne of Glass either but I pushed through (because I’d also bought the hardcover of CoM) and OMGGGGG. I’m obsessed. Also, read the novellas immediately. Everything will make so much more sense! Good luck – I hope you give it a shot! 🙂

    1. I’ll definitely think about it because I also have the hardcover of CoM. I wanted to care more about the characters but after reading Throne of Glass, I couldn’t quite muster enough to carry on with the series. But let’s see… 🙂

  6. I liked Obsidian, but I wasn’t in love, either. But Onyx pulled me in and made me a huge fan. And now, actually, i think my favorite in the series is Obsidian. But I haven’t read Opposition yet.

I liked My Life Next Door, but I wasn’t in love.

    1. I really liked the characters but wasn’t in love with them as much as I hoped I would be. When I finished Obsidian, I was so ready to take on the rest of the books in the series and had even bought Onyx but then new releases came and down in the pile it went.

  7. I haven’t read any of the books on your list except Onyx. I’m pretty biased on that since I love the Lux series. But it’s nice to see everyone’s different reading habits 🙂

I’m also reading the VA books and enjoying them, but could see you not liking Bloodlines if you didn’t like the VA books. I’d probably stay away from that series if you weren’t into her first one since it’s a spin-off series.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone is on my TBR, but I just haven’t gotten to it yet. So I’m not sure yet how I’ll feel about it; although, I’ve heard a lot of people say good things about it.

Sorry I couldn’t add too much thoughts on your list.

    Great post though 🙂

    1. That’s totally fine! 🙂 I’m glad to read any thoughts from you 🙂 I thought Bloodlines was a different series but now I’m learning that it’s basically the same world. LOL 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!

  8. I’ve only read two of the books on your list so far – Crown of Midnight and Cruel Beauty. I absolutely loved both but then I also adored Throne of Glass, so maybe I’m the last person you should be listening to?!

    1. LOL 🙂 But thank you for sharing your feedback on these two books. They received so much love from readers especially Crown of Midnight but at the moment, I don’t know. We’ll see in the future if I get interested in reading them. 🙂

  9. Glad to hear I wasn’t the only one who wasn’t wowed by Throne of Glass! I may pick up Crown of Midnight at some point, but I’m not exactly rushing out to get it, lol. Also, I had a hard time getting into Daughter of Smoke & Bone. I tried numerous times and really had to push myself to get through the first part and keep going… once I did, though, eventually I actually found myself getting more into it. It’s certainly one of the more bizarre books I’ve read, but it was also kind of cool, and it’s good to get out of my comfort zone every once in a while 😀

    1. I think I know what you’re talking about how bizarre Daughter of Smoke & Bone is. I guess that’s my initial feeling about the book too when I started reading it.
