The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. This meme was inspired in part by ~ In My Mailbox~. It’s a chance to share News; a post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
Last Week on the blog
Hi guys! It’s a full work week, a little tiring but I was able to squeeze in some reading time. I can’t believe January’s ending already. And I’m nearing my departure date for Japan. I’m so excited!
I’m practicing my make-up skills which up to late last year was at zero level. lol 🙂 I can’t believe I’m learning how to shop for all kinds of make-up. It’s fun!
I’ve got some great eARCs this week and yes, I already finished my copy of Lauren Layne’s CRUSHED. Seriously, I have to have a Lauren Layne book every month. Oh, if only that were possible…
Every month, there are always new releases to look forward to and the more there are books, the harder it is (at least, for me) to keep track of all the beautiful books I want to get on my shelf. So I decided to start this monthly post where I spotlight new releases for the month so (1) I can keep track of all of them and (2) share them with all of you, see if you’ve got the same line-ups on your TBR shelf.
Without further ado, here are the new releases that I’m looking forward to this February:
It feels like I’ve been waiting for this for a long time.
Title: I’ll Meet You There Author: Heather Demetrios Release Date: February 3, 2015
If seventeen-year-old Skylar Evans were a typical Creek View girl, her future would involve a double-wide trailer, a baby on her hip, and the graveyard shift at Taco Bell. But after graduation, the only thing standing between straightedge Skylar and art school are three minimum-wage months of summer. Skylar can taste the freedom—that is, until her mother loses her job and everything starts coming apart. Torn between her dreams and the people she loves, Skylar realizes everything she’s ever worked for is on the line.
Nineteen-year-old Josh Mitchell had a different ticket out of Creek View: the Marines. But after his leg is blown off in Afghanistan, he returns home, a shell of the cocksure boy he used to be. What brings Skylar and Josh together is working at the Paradise—a quirky motel off California’s dusty Highway 99. Despite their differences, their shared isolation turns into an unexpected friendship and soon, something deeper.
Parallel universe and a hero who can jump from one to the other! I’m enjoying reading the advance excerpt of this book.
Title: A Darker Shade of Magic Author: V.E. Schwab Release Date: February 24, 2015
Kell is one of the last Travelers—rare magicians who choose a parallel universe to visit.
Grey London is dirty, boring, lacks magic, ruled by mad King George. Red London is where life and magic are revered, and the Maresh Dynasty presides over a flourishing empire. White London is ruled by whoever has murdered their way to the throne. People fight to control magic, and the magic fights back, draining the city to its very bones. Once there was Black London – but no one speaks of that now.
Officially, Kell is the Red Traveler, personal ambassador and adopted Prince of Red London, carrying the monthly correspondences between royals of each London. Unofficially, Kell smuggles for those willing to pay for even a glimpse of a world they’ll never see. This dangerous hobby sets him up for accidental treason. Fleeing into Grey London, Kell runs afoul of Delilah Bard, a cut-purse with lofty aspirations. She robs him, saves him from a dangerous enemy, then forces him to another world for her ‘proper adventure’.
But perilous magic is afoot, and treachery lurks at every turn. To save all of the worlds, Kell and Lila will first need to stay alive — trickier than they hoped.
