Can I survive a ‘Me Before You’ sequel?

After YouSo I just learned that author Jojo Moyes will be releasing a sequel to ME BEFORE YOU titled AFTER YOU.

Even the titles alone are making my heart hurt already. It’s not really the titles per se, although, my gosh, they do get you in the heart and they make you feel this emotion that seems to be dedicated just for this story.

It’s the feels, oh my gosh, the FEELS that are now breaking through my consciousness again and making me remember just how much this book broke me, just splintered me into tiny little pieces. I can still remember how it felt after I finished reading Me Before You and after learning that there’s going to be a sequel? I don’t know if my heart can take any more. I really don’t. But the curiosity might just be the end of me because of course I want to know what happens to Lou next. I want to know what happens in After You.

Have you read Me Before You? Did you know the author is going to release a sequel? Do you think you’ll read it? Are you just as anxious and/or excited about it as I am?

Back from the (unintentional) hiatus!

Hi everyone! Yes, it is me. 🙂 And I’ve missed you, guys!

I know I haven’t been that present on the blog and the in the rest of book blogging world. I have been able to post a couple of review and excerpt posts here and there since April but I haven’t really been with you guys as much as I would have wanted.

As many of you know, I made a big move last April, changing my address from one country to another. And it has been exhilarating as it was a bit challenging. I’ve successfully moved from Manila to Tokyo and so far, everything’s been really good. I’m not feeling homesick (so far!) so I guess that’s a good thing.

This Just In: Kisses, She Wrote by Katharine Ashe

The Christmas season is really gaining speed. And it’s the season for Christmas novels and novellas too. I already have the eARC of Kiss Me on This Cold December Night by Charlotte Phillips and now I just received my ebook purchase of Katharine Ashe‘s novella Kisses, She Wrote. Out today, December 3, 2013.

Do you guys have any suggestions for novels or novellas with a Christmas theme? I’d love to hear about them.

Christmas in town has never been so steamy . . .

Handsome as sin and scandalously rakish, Cam Westfall, the Earl of Bedwyr, is every young lady’s wickedest dream. Shy wallflower Princess Jacqueline of Sensaire knows this better than anyone, because her dreams are full of the breathtaking earl’s kisses. And not only her dreams—her diary, too.

But when Cam discovers the maiden’s not-so-maidenly diary, will her wildest Christmas wishes be fulfilled in its pages . . . or in his arms?

About the author:

katharine asheIn 2012 Amazon chose Katharine’s How To Be a Proper Lady as one of the Ten Best Romances of the Year. Upon the publication of her debut in 2010, the American Library Association named Katharine among its “New Stars of Historical Romance”. She is a two-time nominee and 2011 winner of the Reviewers’ Choice Awards for Best Historical Romantic Adventure, and her novella A Lady’s Wish launched HarperCollins Publishers’ Avon Impulse imprint in 2011. Release Day: Sarah MacLean, Laura Florand, Katie McGarry, Laura Kaye

It’s one of those days (well technically it was yesterday in my part of the world) when a lot of awesome books have come available for our consumption. At last. After weeks and days of waiting. Here are some of the books that I can’t wait to get and read.

News: Cover Reveal of Shield of Winter by Nalini Singh

Heroes and Heartbreakers recently posted the exclusive cover reveal of Nalini Singh’s next book, the highly anticipated Book #13 of her Psy-Changeling series, Shield of Winter.

And here you go…

Shield-of-Winter-by-Nalini-Singh275x410

Scheduled for release on June 4, 2014, this next installment features the enigmatic and highly (and I mean highly) secretive Vasic. I like this cover but my favorites are the editions published by Gollancz (which you can see here). I want to see that edition for this book as well.

Here’s the blurb from Goodreads:

Assassin. Soldier. Arrow. That is who Vasic is, who he will always be. His soul drenched in blood, his conscience heavy with the weight of all he’s done, he exists in the shadows, far from the hope his people can almost touch—if only they do not first drown in the murderous insanity of a lethal contagion. To stop the wave of death, Vasic must complete the simplest and most difficult mission of his life.

For if the Psy race is to survive, the empaths must wake…

Having rebuilt her life after medical “treatment” that violated her mind and sought to stifle her abilities, Ivy should have run from the black-clad Arrow with eyes of winter frost. But Ivy Jane has never done what she should. Now, she’ll fight for her people, and for this Arrow who stands as her living shield, yet believes he is beyond redemption. But as the world turns to screaming crimson, even Ivy’s fierce will may not be enough to save Vasic from the cold darkness…

I. Can’t. Wait.

News: Cover Release from Rainbow Rowell

Rainbow Rowell recently blogged about the release of the cover of her upcoming novel Landline. Check this out…

Landlinegrey-1-e1381519474537

This cover’s actually done by Olga Grlic, Rainbow says, who also did the covers for Eleanor and Park and Fangirl. RedRotaryPhone_Landline-725x725I actually liked the old red landline phone that Rainbow had posted earlier in her blog but this one’s cute too.

Here’s the blurb from her website:

Georgie McCool knows her marriage is in trouble. That it’s been in trouble for a long time. She still loves her husband, Neal, and Neal still loves her, deeply — but that almost seems besides the point now.

Maybe that was always besides the point.

Two days before they’re supposed to visit Neal’s family in Omaha for Christmas, Georgie tells Neal that she can’t go. She’s a TV writer, and something’s come up on her show; she has to stay in Los Angeles. She knows that Neal will be upset with her — Neal is always a little upset with Georgie — but she doesn’t expect to him to pack up the kids and go home without her.

When her husband and the kids leave for the airport, Georgie wonders if she’s finally done it. If she’s ruined everything.

That night, Georgie discovers a way to communicate with Neal in the past. It’s not time travel, not exactly, but she feels like she’s been given an opportunity to fix her marriage before it starts . . .

Is that what she’s supposed to do?

Or would Georgie and Neal be better off if they never got married at all?

Landline will come out in July 2014. (Sooo far away…) But since I think I’ll be reading whatever Rainbow Rowell will be writing, I just have to endure the more than half a year wait…

Don’t forget to check out her earlier books, which are A-MA-ZING, by the way.

News: Upcoming anthology and full-length novel from Mary Ann Rivers

Mary Ann Rivers debut book (which is actually a novella but boy did it blew all the other competition away), The Story Guy, has been reviewed and rated highly by a lot of critics. And I absolutely adore it. In just a hundred pages or so, this book had me laughing, intrigued, and head-over-heels in love with the story. And I couldn’t believe Mary Ann Rivers was able to get all that in a novella.

So when I heard that she’s coming out with a new full-length book by January 2014, I was ecstatic. It’s entitled LIVE, book one of a four-book series featuring the Burnsides.

Live_burnside_9_4_1

“The Burnsides are a close-knit, working class family of two brothers and two sisters who are at a tremendous crossroads as the grieve the death of their father. They live in a neighborhood of family friends, old classmates, and families who take care of each other.”

Mary Ann Rivers is also coming out with an anthology scheduled for release before the end of this month. Here’s the blurb from her website:

Heating-Holiday2REV-225x300

SNOWFALL by Mary Ann Rivers

When Jenny Wright becomes involved in an online romance with someone she knows only as “C,” she can’t get enough of their erotic conversation. In truth, Jenny is hiding from the confronting the innumerable changes to her life as she slowly loses her vision. It’s easier having a relationship with someone behind a computer screen, someone with whom she doesn’t have to share every intimate detail of her life.

Jenny shares the most with her occupational therapist, Evan Carlisle-Ford; she shares her worst emotions, the work she loves, and her true self.  Evan finds a way to partner with Jenny to face the challenges ahead, even as he has to confront his growing attraction to his fiercely intelligent client by ending their professional relationship.

Evan is real in every way–forthright, trustworthy, and his kisses can melt snow faster than it can fall. Jenny finds herself again, for herself, and is ready to see the world in new ways and let “C” go. When Jenny receives a very unexpected surprise for Christmas, she must decide whether to let down her defenses and trust–in herself, in the ever-changing world, in the possibility of true love.

And for all those who haven’t read The Story Guy yet, oh my gosh. Please do check it out. It’s amazing! Here’s the blurb that can lure you in…

17411704

“I will meet you on Wednesdays at noon in Celebration Park. Kissing only. I won’t touch you below the shoulders. You can touch me anywhere. No dating, no hook-ups. I will meet with you for as long as you meet me, so if you miss a Wednesday we part as strangers.”

Carrie West is happy with her life . . . isn’t she? But when she sees this provocative online ad, the thirtysomething librarian can’t help but be tempted. After all, the photo of the anonymous poster is far too attractive to ignore. And when Wednesday finally arrives, it brings a first kiss that’s hotter than any she’s ever imagined. Brian Newburgh is an attorney, but there’s more to his life . . . that he won’t share with Carrie. Determined to have more than just Wednesdays, Carrie embarks on a quest to learn Brian’s story, certain that he will be worth the cost. But is she ready to gamble her heart on a man who just might be The One . . . even though she has no idea how their love story will end?

News: Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling #13

slave to sensation 02 visions of heat 03 caressed by ice 04 mine to possess 05 hostage to pleasure 06 branded by fire 07 blaze of memory 08 bonds of justice 09 play of passion 10 kiss of snow 11 tangle of need 12 heart of obsidian

To say that I’m a fan of Nalini Singh would be an understatement. I worship her Psy-Changeling Series and she posted some very good news regarding the 13th book in the series on her blog.

She recently released the official book title and blurb for the book that will have Vasic in the lead role.

SHIELD OF WINTER by Nalini Singh
Coming June 2014

“The alpha author of paranormal romance” (Booklist) draws us back into her extraordinary Psy-Changeling world, a world torn between violence and peace, passion and ice…

Assassin. Soldier.

Oh my. Can tomorrow be June 2014 already?

The Psy-Changeling world that Nalini has created is set in the near future, in which three races co-inhabit the world: the Psy (humans gifted with mental abilities), the Changeling (both human and animal, who can shift from one to the other), and the humans. The dynamics among these three groups as well as the conflicts and challenges that their differences create are what sets up the environment for the characters.

This summary does not do justice to the series and to the stories that Nalini Singh has weaved. But if you’ve never read paranormal romance but you’d like to try or if you don’t have any plan to read paranormal, I would still recommend that you read Nalini Singh, if not for her superb world-building, then at least for the sheer awesomeness of her prose and her story-telling.

Check out her website for more info.
