Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Wouldn’t Mind Santa Bringing Me

d32cf-toptentuesday2

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the gals at The Broke and the Bookish. For this week, it’s the Top Ten Books I Wouldn’t Mind Santa Bringing Me. I’ve decided to simply wish for books that have already been published so Santa wouldn’t have a hard time looking for advance copies. Most of the books in my list are the ones that are not yet available in print in my country and although I can buy the e-book, I want hard copies of them.

Here’s a rundown of my Top Ten.

Super Six Sunday: Favorite Covers of 2013

Super Six Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by the gals at Bewitched Bookworms. This week’s theme: Favorite Covers of 2013.

#6: Splintered by A.G. Howard

I haven’t read this yet but I’ve read good things about it and now it’s on my TBR list. I just love the whimsical feel and the lively colors of this cover.

#5: Crash Into You by Katie McGarry

I’ve always had a hard time picturing how a character would look in real life. And as I have been excited about Isaiah’s book since I read Dare You To, I got my first glimpse of him on this cover. And I loved it. I love the red-themed car and how they’re together on the seat, as well as their facial expressions.

18335634

#4: Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

We finally get a glimpse of Tessa herself. This cover was just beautifully done. I love her dress, by the way.

17970721

#3: A Man Above Reproach by Evelyn Pryce

This cover for a historical romance novel is a breath of fresh air. It’s an uncommon cover in this genre and I love the watercolor effect. It gives the gentleman on the cover a certain dimensionality that whispers of the time period in London then.

15745753 16068905

#2: Eleanor & Park and Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

Oh, these two. I just adore how these covers really echo the characters in the books. It’s an additional way for readers to connect with the story.

12 heart of obsidian

#1: Heart of Obsidian by Nalini Singh

I love this cover edition because it gives me the face to go with the name. This book is one of Nalini’s best works. Absolutely divine.

There you go, my super six covers for 2013. I would love to hear from you guys so if you have time, leave your links in the comments section and I’ll definitely check them out.

Eye-Catching Covers

It’s been said that you should never judge a book by its cover and I guess I adhere to that. I definitely read the summary first no matter how I like or don’t like the cover. Nevertheless, the book cover is a part of the book and it is what draws your eyes in at the outset.

Here are some of the covers that caught my eye this month. Click on the covers to learn more about these books.

I love the contrast of the dark red, violet, and black against the almost pale pastel blurry background. Irresistible, indeed.

17183419

I feel wistful looking at this cover. It sure does say where the story takes place but I love the silhouette of the city and the couple.

17970721

I love this painted cover. It makes me want to meet and learn more about this ‘man above reproach’ as the author dubs him. It’s a nice deviation from the usual HR covers.

15839984

Isn’t this cover just beautiful or what? I love how the petals imitate the winding staircase or the other way around. And the black and white contrast really works.

12711662

I love the brightness and lightness of this one. It sure does complement the ‘glow’ part in the title. And I love the eye make-up on the girl because it does make her seem like she’s this other-worldly being who’s glowing, which she probably is and probably does.

13574417

I’ve seen a dichotomy cover before and was not really a fan but this one works for me. It might be the feeling that I’m getting, which is that these two people, even though they are lying leisurely in their own worlds, so to speak, they want to break out and explore another world outside their own at the same time.

12558285 17449197

Then, there’s these two covers. They’re colorful and magical, but a little creepy at the same time. The facial expressions reflect exactly what the title says.

So there you go. Eye-catching covers this month. What about you? What covers caught your eyes lately?
