“Waiting On” Wednesday (10): Behind His Lens by R.S. Grey

New WoW

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Breaking the Spine that spotlights eagerly anticipated upcoming releases.

This week’s spotlight is on Behind His Lens by R.S. Grey.

Release Date: December 22, 2013

Here’s the blurb from Goodreads:

Twenty-three year old model Charley Whitlock built a quiet life for herself after disaster struck four years ago. She hides beneath her beautiful mask, never revealing her true self to the world… until she comes face-to-face with her new photographer — sexy, possessive Jude Anderson. It’s clear from the first time she meets him that she’s playing by his rules. He says jump, she asks how high. He tells her to unzip her cream Dior gown; she knows she has to comply. But what if she wants him to take charge outside of the studio as well?

Jude Anderson has a strict “no model” dating policy. But everything about Charley sets his body on fire.

When a tropical photo shoot in Hawaii forces the stubborn pair into sexually charged situations, their chemistry can no longer be ignored. They’ll have to decide if they’re willing to break their rules and leave the past behind or if they’ll stay consumed by their demons forever.

Will Jude persuade Charley to give in to her deepest desires?

**Recommended for ages 17+ due to language and sexual situations.**

Why am I waiting?

I found the summary intriguing. I like the set-up and I hope that the story delivers on depth of characters and storyline.

What are you “waiting on” this Wednesday? I would love to hear all about them.

“Waiting On” Wednesday: The Chocolate Temptation by Laura Florand

New WoW

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Breaking the Spine that spotlights eagerly anticipated upcoming releases.

This week’s spotlight is on The Chocolate Temptation by Laura Florand.

Release Date: January 2014

Here’s the blurb from Goodreads:

She hated him.
Patrick Chevalier. The charming, laid-back, golden second-in-command of the Paris pastry kitchen where Sarah worked as intern, who made everything she failed at seem so easy, and who could have every woman he winked at falling for him without even trying. She hated him, but she’d risked too much for this dream to give up on it and walk out just so he wouldn’t break her heart.

But he didn’t hate her.
Sarah Lin. Patrick’s serious, dark-haired American intern, who looked at him as if she could see right through him and wasn’t so impressed with what she saw. As her boss, he knew he should leave her alone. The same way he knew better than to risk his heart and gamble on love.

But he was never good at not going after what – or who – he wanted.

He could make magic out of sugar. But could he mold hate into love?

Why am I waiting?

Laura Florand. A new Amour et Chocolat book. Need I say more? Okay, I will. That’s how much I love Laura Florand and this series. I’m (im)patiently waiting for my copy of The Chocolate Heart and I was ecstatic to learn that Laura Florand will be releasing a new book in less than two months. How awesome is that? I adore the cover (cute) and I love the blurb. I love it when authors do that bit about the blurred lines between love and hate. This book looks like a winner already.

What are you “waiting on” this Wednesday? I would love to hear all about them.

“Waiting On” Wednesday: Just One Night by Lauren Layne

New WoW

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Breaking the Spine that spotlights eagerly anticipated upcoming releases.

This week’s spotlight is on Just One Night by Lauren Layne.

Release Date: March 11, 2014

Here’s the blurb from Goodreads:

In Lauren Layne’s sizzling Sex, Love & Stiletto series, New York’s hottest “sexpert” has been living a lie—and it’s up to one man to keep her honest…all night long.

Riley McKenna knows sex—good sex, bad sex, kinky sex…Her articles in Stiletto magazine are consistently the publication’s most scandalous—and the most read. But Riley has a secret…all that sexy talk? Not an ounce of it comes from personal experience. Her own bedroom escapades are more limited than even her best friends know. When her editor requests that all columnists write something more personal for Stiletto’s anniversary issue, Riley turns to the one man she’s always been able to count on and calls in the favor of a lifetime.

Sam Compton would do anything for Riley McKenna. Anything except be her experimental sex toy. He refuses her request. At least until she tells him that it’ll either be him or she’ll go to someone else. And that, Sam can’t accept. Reluctantly he agrees to her terms—one night of completely meaningless sex in the name of research. Riley thinks she’s prepared for what awaits her in Sam’s bed. After ten years of writing about sex, actually doing it shouldn’t be that different, right? So wrong. What starts as “one time only” becomes “just one more time.” And then one more. And before they know it, Riley and Sam learn first-hand that when it comes to love, there’s no such thing as just one night.

Why am I waiting?

I read the ARC of the second installment of this series, due out on December 9 (watch out for my review) and it was amazing. It was much, much better than the first book so I’m wondering if Lauren Layne is the kind of author who gets better and better with every book she writes. Plus, that blurb. Does that not sound intriguing or what?

What are you “waiting on” this Wednesday? I would love to hear all about them.

“Waiting On” Wednesday: Twice the Temptation by Beverley Kendall

New WoW

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Breaking the Spine that spotlights eagerly anticipated upcoming releases.

This week, I’m featuring Twice the Temptation by Beverley Kendall.

17238969Release Date: November 18, 2013

Here’s the summary from Goodreads:

Temptation is as old as Adam and Eve. Unfortunately, succumbing to it is as natural as breathing to the gentlemen in the haut ton. For prospective brides bent on fidelity, three of the ton’s most ravishing beauties will help determine the faithful from the philanderers. What they hadn’t counted on was emotional entanglements…

Catherine Rutherford has been smitten with the sinfully handsome American, Lucas Beaumont, since their introduction the year before. And he appears just as enamored of her, for following his return to London he launches a seductive campaign to ensnare her heart and capture her hand in marriage. Never has Catherine been so confident in the outcome of a courtship…that is until she discovers her would-be groom proposed marriage to her sister first.

Although she and her twin share the same face, Catherine refuses to share a man’s affections much less be any woman’s substitute. With the aid of her twin and two friends, she challenges the man she loves to the ultimate test of fidelity. Posing as her heartbroken sister—who is really anything but—Catherine seeks his solace from an “unhappy marriage” and begins a tempestuous game of seduction where the true proof of his love lies in his ability to resist her charms.

Why am I waiting?

This is Beverley Kendall’s return to historical romance. Her recently published books were all contemporary romances and they were a great read but I’m eager to go back to reading her HR novels again. Plus, this new book is about Catherine and Lucas, who we’ve met briefly in An Heir of Deception, in which their relationship or, to be more specific, attachment ended a bit abruptly. When I read that part, I knew or I hoped really, really hard that Beverley Kendall would not leave these two alone for much longer. Their story is one of my favorite premises: second-chance love, which Kendall explores in her Elusive Lords series.

“Waiting On” Wednesday: Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge

New WoW

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights eagerly anticipated upcoming releases.

15839984Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge

Release Date: January 28, 2014

From Goodreads:

Graceling meets Beauty and the Beast in this sweeping fantasy about one girl’s journey to fulfill her destiny and the monster who gets in her way-by stealing her heart.

Based on the classic fairy tale Beauty and the Beast, Cruel Beauty is a dazzling love story about our deepest desires and their power to change our destiny.

Since birth, Nyx has been betrothed to the evil ruler of her kingdom-all because of a foolish bargain struck by her father. And since birth, she has been in training to kill him.

With no choice but to fulfill her duty, Nyx resents her family for never trying to save her and hates herself for wanting to escape her fate. Still, on her seventeenth birthday, Nyx abandons everything she’s ever known to marry the all-powerful, immortal Ignifex. Her plan? Seduce him, destroy his enchanted castle, and break the nine-hundred-year-old curse he put on her people.

But Ignifex is not at all what Nyx expected. The strangely charming lord beguiles her, and his castle-a shifting maze of magical rooms-enthralls her.

As Nyx searches for a way to free her homeland by uncovering Ignifex’s secrets, she finds herself unwillingly drawn to him. Even if she could bring herself to love her sworn enemy, how can she refuse her duty to kill him? With time running out, Nyx must decide what is more important: the future of her kingdom, or the man she was never supposed to love.

Why am I waiting?

I love retellings. And I’m particularly enchanted with what the summary presents to me about this retelling of Beauty and the Beast. I’m already loving the obvious dynamics between the characters but I’m also looking forward to discovering the other layers of their relationship, beyond the ‘Beauty’ and the ‘Beast’ ideals. The blurb doesn’t say much about our ‘Beast’ Ignifex but I’m looking forward to learning more about him.

And just as I’ve gushed over this book’s cover in another post, I’ll gush over it again here. Don’t you just adore that cover? I’m getting the dark fairy tale-esque feeling just by looking at it.

“Waiting On” Wednesday: The Countess Conspiracy by Courtney Milan

New WoW

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights eagerly anticipated upcoming releases.

The Countess Conspiracy by Courtney Milan (The Brothers Sinister Book 3)

Released Date: December 2013

There’s no official blurb or summary of this book yet even though the release date is but two months away. Courtney Milan says she can’t quite write a summary that isn’t laden with spoilers so I understand.

Nevertheless, let me just say that this book will be about Sebastian Malheur, the last of the trio of the Brothers Sinister. He’s an infamous rake but that isn’t the greatest (or not) of his infamy. He’s also this well-known and at times much-hated scientist who writes treatises and delivers lectures on “sexual intercourse under the guise of discussing the inheritance of traits”, by studying plants and insects. 🙂

Why am I waiting?

Because it’s Courtney Milan, that’s why.

She writes some, if not the, most unconventional historical romances I’ve read. I love her stories and I love her characters. And her prose, I just want to read it and read it. And then read it some more, never wanting it to end.

If you guys are interested, check out the rest of the books plus novellas in this series while we all wait for December to arrive.

“Waiting On” Wednesday: No Good Duke Goes Unpunished

New WoW

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Breaking the Spine that spotlights eagerly anticipated upcoming releases.

No Good Duke Goes Unpunished by Sarah MacLean (Rules of Scoundrels Book 3)

Release Date: November 26, 2013

Here’s the blurb from Goodreads16240497

A rogue ruined . . .

He is the Killer Duke, accused of murdering Mara Lowe on the eve of her wedding. With no memory of that fateful night, Temple has reigned over the darkest of London’s corners for twelve years, wealthy and powerful, but beyond redemption. Until one night, Mara resurfaces, offering the one thing he’s dreamed of . . . absolution.

A lady returned . . .

Mara planned never to return to the world from which she’d run, but when her brother falls deep into debt at Temple’s exclusive casino, she has no choice but to offer Temple a trade that ends in her returning to society and proving to the world what only she knows . . . that he is no killer.

A scandal revealed . . .

It’s a fine trade, until Temple realizes that the lady—and her past—are more than they seem. It will take every bit of his strength to resist the pull of this mysterious, maddening woman who seems willing to risk everything for honor . . . and to keep from putting himself on the line for love.

I adored Sarah MacLean’s previous installment in this series, One Good Earl Deserves a Lover, and I’m eagerly anticipating this next book. Sarah MacLean gives us another interesting premise and I can’t wait to learn more about Temple’s story. By the summary, I know readers can look forward to mystery, a bit of action, and of course, romance, which Sarah MacLean has delivered well in her previous books.

And isn’t the book cover pretty? 🙂 Of course, it may well be because I’m biased to green but I like it a lot.

“Waiting On” Wednesday: The Sum of All Kisses

New WoW

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Breaking the Spine that spotlights eagerly anticipated upcoming releases.

The Sum of All Kisses by Julia Quinn

Release date: October 29, 2013

Blurb from her website:

Hugh Prentice has never had patience for dramatic females, and if Lady Sarah Pleinsworth has ever been acquainted with the words shy or retiring, she’s long since tossed them out the window. Besides, a reckless duel has left this brilliant mathematician with a ruined leg, and now he could never court a woman like Sarah, much less dream of marrying her.

Sarah has never forgiven Hugh for the duel he fought that nearly destroyed her family. But even if she could find a way to forgive him, it wouldn’t matter. She doesn’t care that his leg is less than perfect, it’s his personality she can’t abide. But forced to spend a week in close company they discover that first impressions are not always reliable. And when one kiss leads to two, three, and four, the mathematician may lose count, and the lady may, for the first time, find herself speechless…

Julia Quinn’s next installment to her Smythe-Smiths quartet of novels focuses on Sarah and Hugh, two characters that were already introduced in the previous two novels in the series and who seemed like very interesting characters.

Julia Quinn’s new series is far from being Bridgerton series material but I really enjoyed the first book, Just Like Heaven. However, nothing special happened in the second one, A Night Like This. So I’m crossing my fingers with this third book especially because the back story of these two is ripe with plot points and conflict so I’m looking forward to where Julia Quinn takes their story.

Julia Quinn offers an excerpt of her soon-to-be-released book in her website. As a side note, how pretty is the cover of this book? I particularly love the color of the dress.

“Waiting On” Wednesday: Duke of Midnight

New WoW

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Breaking the Spine that spotlights eagerly anticipated upcoming releases.

Duke of Midnight by Elizabeth Hoyt (Maiden Lane #6)

Here’s the blurb from Goodreads: 13064395

Twenty years ago Maximus Batten witnessed the brutal murders of his parents. Now the autocratic Duke of Wakefield, he spends his days ruling Parliament. But by night, disguised as the Ghost of St. Giles, he prowls the grim alleys of St. Giles, ever on the hunt for the murderer. One night he finds a fiery woman who meets him toe-to-toe-and won’t back down . . .

Artemis Greaves toils as a lady’s companion, but hiding beneath the plain brown serge of her dress is the heart of a huntress. When the Ghost of St. Giles rescues her from footpads, she recognizes a kindred spirit-and is intrigued. She’s even more intrigued when she realizes who exactly the notorious Ghost is by day . . .

Artemis makes a bold move: she demands that Maximus use his influence to free her imprisoned brother-or she will expose him as the Ghost. But blackmailing a powerful duke isn’t without risks. Now that she has the tiger by the tail, can she withstand his ire-or the temptation of his embrace?

Elizabeth Hoyt writes some of the best historical romances I’ve ever read. She always offers her readers something original and fresh. She’s an auto-buy for me and I’ll admit I will read every single one of her books, no questions asked.

This particular offering is one that I’m really anticipating. The two main characters were sort-of introduced, albeit informally, or at least referenced in the previous books and I can’t wait for their story to unfold.

What are you waiting on this Wednesday?

“Waiting On” Wednesday: My Lady Quicksilver

New WoW

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Breaking the Spine that spotlights eagerly anticipated upcoming releases.

My Lady Quicksilver by Bec McMaster (London Steampunk #3)

Publication Date: 1 October 2013 17310126

Here’s the blurb from Goodreads:

Determined to destroy the Echelon she despises, Rosalind Fairchild is on seemingly easy mission. Get in. Uncover the secrets of her brother’s disappearance. And get out.

In order to infiltrate the Nighthawks and find their leader, Sir Jasper Lynch, Rosalind will pose as their secretary. But she doesn’t count on Lynch being such a dangerously charismatic man, challenging her at every turn, forcing her to re-evaluate everything she knows about the enemy.

He could be her most dangerous nemesis—or the ally she never dreamed existed.

I can’t wait to dive into Bec McMaster’s Steampunk London world again. The third installment of the series brings us outside the main families of the first two books but nevertheless connected characters. There’s a much larger, overarching plot that is building up since the first book and I can’t wait to see what more is revealed in this new release.
