Top Ten All Time Favorites in Historical Romance…
THE COUNTESS CONSPIRACY by Courtney Milan. This was just released late last year but it has become one of my favorites of all time. Courtney Milan at her best. Emotionally-stirring and captivating love story from the genre’s best of the best.
ROMANCING MISTER BRIDGERTON by Julia Quinn. This is one the best friends-to-lovers stories I’ve read. I love the trajectory of Colin’s and Penelope’s relationship. The joy of reading this book is as much about the journey as it was about the HEA destination.
A KISS FOR MIDWINTER by Courtney Milan. A very powerful novella, in my opinion. Powerful in its plot, in its story development, in the conviction and vulnerability of its characters, and in the enduring and redemptive quality of love.
ONE GOOD EARL DESERVES A LOVER by Sarah MacLean. Sarah MacLean shows us how two ragged pieces of puzzles can fit well with one another. Read about quirky yet strong-willed characters who find their peace of mind and most importantly the missing pieces of their hearts in each other.
UNTIL YOU by Judith McNaught. I’ve read and re-read this ages ago and still the story does not lose its magic, for me. It doesn’t matter if the set-up is a bit cliche by present standards, the incomparable Judith McNaught still weaved an authentic, heartbreaking, and heartwarming story between Stephen and Sheridan.
DEVIL IN WINTER by Lisa Kleypas. Another powerful story about the redemptive power of love. I dare you not to fall in love with Sebastian and Evie. LOL
ANY DUCHESS WILL DO by Tessa Dare. This was such a breath of fresh air and the uniqueness that Tessa Dare was able to give her readers amid the seemingly cliched set-up really makes this a gem of a work.
MARRIED BY MORNING by Lisa Kleypas. I’ve waited for Leo’s and Cat’s story since the early part of the series. And while it took some time (this is the 4th book), the waiting was worth it.
WHAT I DID FOR A DUKE by Julie Anne Long. Another gem found. I just got all the good feels watching Alex and Genevieve fall in love. It was refreshing, sweet, and yet still totally powerful.
THE DUKE by Gaelen Foley. I love the role reversals set-up of this book. Imagine: a paragon Duke and a courtesan falling in love. If it doesn’t get juicier than that, I don’t know what else to look for.

Girl meets Books 
These are all new to me actually but I do love Historical Dramas and Romance so I’m excited to check out quite a few of these. Especially the Milan and MacLean ones (since I keep seeing both on the blogs). Thanks for sharing your great list 🙂

Any Duchess Will Do is actually my first and only Tessa Dare but it really became a favorite of mine and so now I have her other works on my TBR list especially her recent release, Romancing the Duke. ^__^

I could have easily done ten historical romances, but most of them would be from the same few authors – Julia Quinn, Tessa Dare, Julie Garwood, Lisa Kleypas. I’ve never read anything by Courtney Milan, but I think I should.

I love to meet people who love historical romance. It’s not really my thing, but I’ve been editing for a lady who writes period pieces and I’m starting to enjoy them more. I might give these a look-see when I get a chance.

So…I don’t know if I should be admitting this or not, but I read a lot of historical romance in high school (a bit too young), so some of these seem familiar. From your list I remember reading Married by Morning by Lisa Kleypas and Until You by Judith Mcnaught. A kiss for midwinter is on my kindle, I still haven’t read it yet, but I will now after seeing how much you loved it!!! Judith Mcnaught’s books were my favorite. Have you by any chance read a Kingdom of Dreams? Or Almost Heaven? Or Whitney, my love? I found them delightful! I’m currently much more into YA now! 🙂

I read them in high school too ^__^ i love Judith McNaught. She’s the first author in this genre that I read and I’ve read all of her books including her contemporary romances ^__^ I’m hoping she’ll write again soon. And I hope you can check out A Kiss for Midwinter soon. It’s amazing. I also heard its audio book version and loved it as well.

This is new genre to me, but I happened upon The White Queen by Philippa Gregory at the airport and I fell in love. I’m glad you posted this list, because now I know what to read as soon as my exams are over!!

It’s funny, I tend to steer away from historical romance, but my guilty pleasure is Pride and Prejudice sequels/alternate storylines/whatever. Which, a lot of the time, is basically just historical romance! I might have to check out some of these 🙂

So many great ones you have here. I do love Romancing Mister Bridgerton (that one was my first and favorite of the series) and I also have Devil in Winter on my list as well. I see I need to check out Courtney Milan I have yet to try her books out but I have heard amazing reviews on her stories so it will have to be soon.

Until You was your favorite Judith McNaught? For me, it was good, yes, but there are so many other McNaught’s that stand out in my mind… Whitney, My Love (although some people strongly despise it), A Kingdom of Dreams, Almost Heaven… man, you’re making me want to re-read ALL of her books. Her contemporary romances, now dated, are ALSO fantastic. Paradise and Perfect? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I used to read adult historical romances all the time before I focused more on YA. Devil in Winter and Romancing Mister Bridgerton were definitely favorites of mine too! I bought Any Duchess Will Do not that long ago and plan to read that one soon =)
