The Reasons for Marriage, published in January 2004

From Goodreads:

A dashing duke persuades a reserved young woman to be his wife, in THE REASONS FOR MARRIAGE, by New York Times bestselling author Stephanie Laurens. Captivating historical romance from one of today’s top-selling authors!

Lenore Lester is perfectly content with her quiet country life, caring for her father, and has no desire for marriage. She takes steps to remain inconspicuous and indifferent, but the Duke of Eversleigh has found her out. And this particular duke is quite content to convince Lenore of THE REASONS FOR MARRIAGE.

My Thoughts:

That book summary gives nothing away. Nothing, that is, but questions. I haven’t read this book but I want to ask all these questions when I read that blurb. Why does Lenore desire to be inconspicuous? What motivates her? And how does the Duke of Eversleigh see her exactly?

Have you read this book? What are your thoughts about it? I’d love to hear from you guys.

  1. What! How come this is the first time I’m hearing about this book from Stephanie Laurens! Oh yeah…. It was not published under Avon…. LOL But since it’s back in 2004…. I think I’ll check it out, it has her old writer touch in it, I hope.

  2. I have heard of this one, but haven’t yet had the opportunity to read it. The cover is so sweet and charming. I just want to jump right into it like mary poppins. LOL Great choice for the week. Happy Reading.

  3. Great pick, Camille! This was one of my first Stephanie Laurens books and really enjoyed it.

@Ki — I know what you mean by “old writer touch” — I miss that about her. Her newer books aren’t as interesting…
